I am happily married with 7 year old twins. My husband, Matt is Security Forces, we met years ago while I was working in Germany and he was stationed there. We really enjoy traveling, eating food that we have no business eating and being outdoors. My kiddos, Alex and Riley give me very little grief which I appreciate. We also have a lab and a frenchie who are without doubt, the troublemakers around our house. Professionally I own a small company teaching sourcing sciences and recruitment in the IT, Federal and Engineering sectors.
I am an open book, do not hesitate to reach out to me with questions or concerns. I have linked my info below.
My name is Deidre McVay-Schulmeister, and I am the current Parliamentarian for the Kirtland Spouses' Club. I was born and raised in Ohio, and Ohio is where I met my husband, Capt. Taylor Schulmeister, USAF. Taylor and I met at Heidelberg University, where we both attended undergraduate school. After reconnecting the end of my senior year, we dated and married on September 9, 2017. We have resided in Albuquerque since spring 2017 after graduating with our Masters' degrees.
I am the Development and Membership Associate for the National Museum of Nuclear Science & History. My role within the Museum is to encourage our community to join the Museum as members, create exclusive, fun and interactive experiences for our members, and assist with fundraising initiatives. I am also a jewelry designer for Origami Owl, dog mom to a 7 year-old American Foxhound-Beagle mixed named Dooku.
I am excited to help the Kirtland Spouses' Club share its mission with others in the base community. The Spouses' Club welcomes every spouse or significant other of someone who serves our country, and I know that I felt welcomed the minute I stepped into the door at a previous social event. Kirtland Air Force Base is the third assignment location we have resided, and have and will continue to enjoy making Albuquerque our home.
Hi all! My name is Mabelle Galante, and I have been at Kirtland AFB since July 2018. I am excited to serve as the VP Events for the Kirtland Spouses’ Club 2019-2020 board year.
I own and operate an event planning business, so joining the KSC board as the VP Events seemed like the perfect fit for me! I am thrilled to create fun and unique events for the Kirtland Spouses’ Club’s awesome members and guests!
I am originally from Virginia Beach, VA and have been on this Air Force journey with my husband for over 16 years now. Along the way, we’ve added 3 amazing kids and just recently, our adorable puppy Odin. Kirtland AFB is our 4th duty station, and we try to make the best of every base we end up at! After a week of being at Kirtland AFB, I saw a Facebook post to join the Kirtland Spouses’ Club’s Lunch Bunch that was open to non-members, and I figured I should put myself out there and meet some of the fellow spouses here at Kirtland. I felt so welcomed and thoroughly enjoyed meeting these wonderful spouses that I knew I had to join the Kirtland Spouses’ Club! Attending monthly socials and continuing to join the KSC Lunch Bunch has definitely made this transition into Albuquerque living much easier for me as a spouse. When I’m not socializing or lunching with the KSC, I enjoy checking out local coffee shops, exploring the surrounding areas, and venue scouting for my event planning business. I’m very enthusiastic for this upcoming board year and hope to see you at our events!
Hello! I am Heather Ruppel, your Kirtland Spouses' Club historian. You'll find me behind the camera documenting the club's activities.
My husband is currently working in Aircraft Maintenance and I have been on this active duty spouse journey with him for 16 years and counting. We both grew up in Wisconsin, we have two boys and one goofy dog that tag along on our adventures.
My working background is early childhood education and photography. I currently work at Georgia O'Keefe Elementary here in Albuquerque and I run a family photography business. I also love to run. You'll find me racing around town as the sun comes up.
I look forward to sharing the good work that the Kirtland Spouses' Club does as well as getting to know others and their stories!
Hello! My name is Kimberly Brennan.
I am the Mini-Club Chair for the Kirtland Spouse’s Club. In May 2017, I married my husband — John — and became a military spouse of the United States Air Force. John and I met each other at the University of Maryland (College Park) when we both joined the leadership team of a student Christian ministry, Reformed University Fellowship (RUF). During our time at UMD, John participated in ROTC and I planned the yearly Relay For Life events on campus. This is my husband’s second duty station. I believe relationships are an important part of surviving the demanding military lifestyle. We love the diversity, outdoor activities, and food options in Albuquerque!
Ivy has a BS in Basic Medical Sciences and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of the Philippines. She also completed a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology at the University of New Mexico College of Population Health, graduating with distinction. She was a Mike and Gail Donley Spouse Scholarship Awardee, and received multiple grants to fund her graduate school research. She currently works at the University of New Mexico, focused on community-engaged research to prevent sexual violence and to mitigate the impact of adverse childhood experiences. She has presented her work at various state and national professional conferences, and is currently on the board of the New Mexico Public Health Association.
Being the spouse of an active duty Air Force servicemember for nearly a decade, she understands the challenges of pursuing higher education and sustaining a career while living through multiple PCS moves and countless deployments. She joined the KSC Board of Governors to support professional development and higher education for military family members affiliated with and those who live within a 50 mile radius of Kirtland Air Force Base. Ivy has been volunteering as the Chair of the KSC Scholarship Committee since 2018. She manages the scholarship application process, recruits members of the judge panel, and coordinates award disbursements with the Welfare Treasurer. She also organizes the Annual KSC Scholarship Banquet to celebrate the committee volunteers and scholarship recipients. Ivy believes that supporting military families is integral to supporting our US military.
